Dual Home

Our Dual Homes have been created for up to 2 children and young people who require small and therapeutic environments in order to have their needs met. In Dual Homes, young people can access highly personalised care and a thorough assessment of their needs in order to progress them and ensure that they get the best outcomes for their lives.

Dual Homes offer the same support and risk management as Solo Homes but are utilised where young people are able to live with other young people. Our Dual Homes have been hugely successful thus far in creating stable and meaningful placements for young people who have come from a number of challenging situations, namely:

  • Have been in secure accommodation
  • As a transition from secure
  • A transition from Solo Homes
  • As a solution for young people who have disorganised attachments which have led to numerous placement breakdowns
  • For young people who go missing from care
  • Victims of Child Sexual Exploitation
  • For young people who self harm have suicidal ideation and for those who use substances and alcohol.

As with all of our services, we believe that in our Dual Homes outcomes for the young people are key and so are measured through a series of assessments, psychological and emotional wellbeing work and through well planned key worker sessions.

We have positive links with local mainstream schools, local Pupil Referral Units and EBD schools, colleges and further education centres and work experience placements. We also have the option of educating young people on-site through the Esland School, however, often where young people are able to live in harmony with other young people, they are also able to access education in a school environment.

Young people who live in Dual Homes have the option of being cared for by a competent and experienced staff team member on either a 1:1 or 2:1 staffing ratio. This will be agreed at the point of the placement being offered and regularly reviewed in order to meet their needs. Young people placed in Dual Homes can be provided with a 28 day psychological assessment by our partners – Future Minds. This assessment will assess their strengths & difficulties, mental and emotional wellbeing, risk & resilience factors, attachment disorders and their wishes, feelings and beliefs. The young people can also receive counselling sessions, CBT, DBT, play or music therapy and environmental therapy in order to have them overcome their difficulties. We have successfully transitioned young people from our Dual Homes into our Complex Needs and our Group Homes by our partners – Future Minds.
