Ministerial Visit to Bracken Lodge- 23rd September

Today the Minister for Children and Families, Will Quince, and Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker, visited our residential children’s home in Grantham, Bracken Lodge.
Mr Quince, who is new in post due to the recent cabinet reshuffle, met with our young people at the home and spent time learning about their experiences in care and their hopes for the future.

Our CEO, Charu Kashyap and Bracken’s Registered Manager, Joy Lees, were also in attendance. Our young people responded very well to the visit and asked lots of relevant questions of Mr Quince and Ms Trowler, particularly about the opportunities available to looked-after children leaving residential care settings and the government support available to them. Our children were also particularly interested in the barriers for looked-after young people in mainstream education.
We are delighted that this visit was such a success and we’re all very proud of how well our young people did. We’re sure Mr Quince learned a lot from them.
