The Blackberry Lodge Team

Here at Blackberry Lodge, we have a small staff team made up primarily of female staff. Blackberry Lodge staff consists of a mixed aged range group of adults who are all knowledge and always eager to learn, which will work well for the young person that moves into Blackberry Lodge as they will have staff that will be able to relate to them and understand their perspective.

The home manager has over 15 years’ experience working within childcare and education as a safeguarding lead before moving into residential care as a home’s manager. The homes manager has different types of behaviour management styles, which she supports and develops the staff team in using. The home has three very experienced seniors in the home, who have a nurturing approach towards the young people they work with and who are supportive of the RCW’s. All staff support the young people they work with to improve their life experiences and promote independency as well as encourage them to engage in education and recreational activities. 

Environment

The home environment is very appealing, with its cosy living space and conservatory which allows sunlight to enter to make it bright and welcoming. The living area and dining area are conjoined with the kitchen nearby, this makes for a small and intimate space where staff and young people can spend time together and talk about their day.

Blackberry Lodge is situated within a quiet cul-de-sac in a large residential area with local amenities within a short distance away. The location is suited to a young person who is in need of social integration, someone who wants to feel part of a community. There is a local park at the end of the road with a large field where you can play ball games, have a picnic, or take a dog for a walk. At the side of the property, there is a path that leads to a nature reserve area, this walk is great for exploring the amenities in the area. There is a wide variety of different facilities which are catered for young people within a short distance and there are great transport links to adventure further afield.
