Team Skills & Specialism
The home prides itself in comprehensive experience working with children with a variety of complex needs, including children who have suffered ACE’s, trauma, attachment difficulties, SEMH and learning difficulties. SEN education, knowledge and experience at the home brings bespoke knowledge to the team, to ensure education outcomes working in conjunction with care; this partnership working, linked with therapeutic intervention, is key for successful outcomes to build stability and resilience in our young people.
Environment
Epworth House is a detached two storey house, in Biddulph, Staffordshire. The home has its own private driveway and a wraparound garden, which backs on to sports fields.
The ground floor has a homely lounge with a separate dining room, in addition to a large kitchen/dining area. The home has a staff office and toilet room, along with a games room with a variety of games and activities on offer.
The first floor comprises of the main bathroom and 4 bedrooms, of which 1 is a staff sleep in bedroom / office area. Each young person has their own bedroom which can be locked, allowing for both privacy and security. All bedrooms have suitable furniture and offer a space to relax and study, which has personalised décor of the children's' choosing.
Outcomes for Children
Epworth House has a sustained history of positive outcomes for the children at the home. Children have progressed in all areas and significant achievements not otherwise possible have been accomplished- including education achievements and independent living skills. Positive, professional, therapeutic relationships underpin our achievements, to gain successful emotional resilience and measurable progress.

Activities at Epworth House
There are a variety of activities on offer at the home, including computer games, books, magazines, board games, movies nights and music. Children are actively encourage to engage in their existing interests and hobbies to build self-esteem, social interactions and support relationship building. Children frequently engage in community activities, which include swimming, sporting activities, visiting local areas, cinema, mega bowl, day trips to theme parks and short-breaks and day trips planned in consultation with them.
Children’s Perspective
Children's views, wishes and feelings are an integral part of our care planning to meet the needs of the children and gain an understanding of how their care is delivered. We ensure they are consulted in all aspects of their care. Children have weekly house meetings to discuss various items, including but not limited to menu / food / shopping views, activities views, home environment and feedback on what is working well and what needs to be improved.
Our children have shared lots of praise and positive feedback on the relationships and support the home has provided during their time with us- and the transition work towards the end of their placement to support the next stage in their lives.
