Congleton School’s objective is to provide an inspirational learning environment where pupils are encouraged to actively participate in learning opportunities.
Our aim is to nurture the qualities that will enable each pupil to become confident and competent members of society.
At Congleton School we want all pupils to enjoy their learning opportunities, to actively participate with bespoke education packages, celebrate their individual and collective achievement and recognise the importance and value of education.
The Congleton Team
We have an established team of practitioners at Congleton School who work tirelessly to ensure that all our pupils receive the right support. The team provides a balance of experience and enthusiasm underpinned by an understanding of all our pupils allowing us to adopt a fully child-focused approach. The wider school team are committed to providing an engaging education experience, utilizing the skills of each member of staff to facilitate pupil progress towards recognised social, emotional and academic outcomes.
Pupils will leave Congleton School with a range of academic qualifications and social skills that will stay with them throughout their adult life. Progress in these areas will form the foundation of future success in employment, independence and will enable young people to become positive, confident and competent members of their local communities.
The education provision at Congleton School continues to evolve and develop. The curriculum offer allows education to be tailored to suit the needs and abilities of individuals. Amendments to an individual pupil’s curriculum will be undertaken in consultation with the young person so they can help influence their own learning pathways. Our tailored approaches allow us to offer an integrated approach ranging from outreach packages, vocational courses to more formal approaches to education whilst factoring in experiential learning opportunities and off-site education opportunities. All young people at Congleton school have access to clinical input, SALT and OT. The successes of our education delivery continue to provide us with opportunities for growth with several new education provisions opening shortly.
Outcomes for children
At Congleton School we are proud of the variety of recognised qualifications on offer ranging from Entry Level Certificates and Functional Skills to GCSE or alternative vocational accreditation. Successful outcomes for young people are explicit and can be incredibly varied. Facilitating progress to allow pupils to return to mainstream education settings, post 16 placements, vocational college courses and apprenticeships are some of our recent successes whilst for other simply improving independence and supporting social and emotional resilience has been the target for others. At Congleton School we recognize that success must be personalized for all young people.
Academic and social development is not solely confined to school. We offer ‘Outdoor Education’ packages to support our pupils allowing access to ‘Bushcraft’, Orienteering, Climbing, Fishing, Mountain-biking, Fishing, Archery and a variety of watersport activities. Such opportunities allow us to focus on anxiety, self-esteem and self-confidence, communication and teamwork. The rationale underpinning such opportunities allows for transference of skills back into the school environment and across the wider community.
