Our proprietary training model

Designed, developed and delivered by us.

We’ve created our own Behaviour Support Programme for our teams. It’s completely bespoke and it underpins our entire therapeutic model.

We are certified by BILD™ Association of Certified Training as complying with the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards 2021.

What does the programme cover?

Our behaviour support programme forms the foundation of therapeutic practice within all our services and all our employees working with young people complete the programme in full. The programme covers the PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy) framework, as well as the theory and science behind complex trauma and its impact on young people physically, emotionally, and socially.

The course breaks down how to manage every stage of a serious incident, including implementing primary and secondary prevention strategies and providing post-incident support.

And it offers guidance on the laws and legislation around physical interventions, human rights, safeguarding, and welfare, amongst many others.

Every member of our team is trained on the programme during their induction, and they receive annual refreshers to ensure they’re equipped with the theoretical background and practical support they need to support our young people.

Why is it unique?

The course is delivered by qualified trainers, therapeutic experts and our very own staff who work in our homes.

Our staff’s insight is crucial because they can give new starters their first-hand knowledge and experience of working with our young people and make recommendations about how to offer the very best support.

“The Esland Behaviour Support Programme gave me the skills and confidence to work with young people and support them therapeutically, while the annual refreshers keep my practice topped up.”
